Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 chai tea bag
  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) unsweetened dairy-free milk (divided)
  • Sweetener to taste (such as maple syrup, agave, or sugar)

Instructions

  1. Add milk to pot: Pour 1 ½ cups of unsweetened dairy-free milk into a small pot to prepare for heating.
  2. Heat the milk: Place the pot over medium-high heat and warm the milk for 2 ½ to 3 minutes until it becomes steaming hot but does not reach boiling.
  3. Separate milk: Remove the pot from heat and carefully pour out ¼ cup of the hot milk into a separate container. Pour the remaining hot milk into a mug.
  4. Steep tea: Place the chai tea bag into the mug with the hot milk, allowing it to steep for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  5. Sweeten the latte: After steeping, remove the tea bag and add your preferred sweetener. Stir well, taste, and adjust sweetness as desired.
  6. Froth milk: Use a milk frother to froth the reserved ¼ cup of hot milk until foamy.
  7. Assemble and serve: Pour the frothed milk over the sweetened chai latte. Optionally, garnish with a dusting of cinnamon or a cinnamon stick before serving.

Notes

  • Do not allow the milk to boil to prevent a burnt taste.
  • Use any unsweetened plant-based milk such as almond, oat, or soy based on preference.
  • Adjust steeping time or sweetener quantity to match taste preferences.
  • For an extra spicy chai, add a pinch of ground cinnamon or ginger during steeping.
  • A milk frother is recommended for best frothy texture, but vigorously whisking hot milk can be a substitute.
