Ingredients

For the Margarita Mix

  • 1/2 large jalapeño pepper, seeded and thinly sliced
  • 2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce honey
  • 1 teaspoon egg white

For Serving

  • Lime wedges
  • Coarse salt
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Muddle the Jalapeños: Add the sliced jalapeño peppers and freshly squeezed lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Use a cocktail muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to gently mash the peppers, releasing their spicy flavor into the lime juice.
  2. Combine Ingredients: To the shaker, add the blanco tequila, freshly squeezed orange juice, honey, and egg white. Secure the lid and shake vigorously without ice to emulsify the egg white and blend all flavors smoothly.
  3. Prepare Glasses: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of two serving glasses to moisten. Dip each rim into coarse salt to coat it evenly for a salty, flavorful edge.
  4. Serve: Fill the prepared glasses with ice cubes. Pour the margarita mixture over the ice, garnish each with a lime wedge, and serve immediately for a refreshing, spicy cocktail experience.

Notes

  • Make sure to seed the jalapeño to control the level of heat.
  • Do not add ice to the shaker when shaking with egg white to achieve the best frothy texture.
  • If preferred, pasteurized egg white or aquafaba can be used as an egg white substitute.
  • Use fresh juices for the freshest and brightest flavor.
  • Adjust honey quantity to taste for desired sweetness.
