Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3 oz Jello gelatin (flavor of your choice: Orange, Cherry, Raspberry, Lemon, Lime, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup granulated or sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix Gelatin and Water: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the Jello gelatin and warm water. Whisk everything together thoroughly to ensure no clumps remain.
  2. Dissolve Gelatin: Microwave the mixture for 1-2 minutes, stopping halfway to whisk again. Heat until the gelatin is fully dissolved and smooth.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows to the bowl and microwave for another 1-2 minutes until they become slightly melted and puffed up.
  4. Whisk Smooth: Whisk the gelatin and marshmallow mixture vigorously until smooth and lump-free.
  5. Pour Mixture and Chill: Lightly oil a 9×9 inch square pan and pour the mixture in. Place it in the refrigerator to chill and set for about 50 minutes.
  6. Add Second Layer (Optional): For layered color effects, repeat steps 1-4 with the same ingredients, then pour this second layer over the set first layer. Chill again for another 50 minutes to set fully.
  7. Remove from Pan: Once set, carefully run a sharp knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the candy. Flip it onto a cookie tray lined with foil paper that has been sprayed lightly with oil.
  8. Cut into Shapes: Using a sharp knife sprayed lightly with oil to prevent sticking, cut the candy into cubes or strips approximately 1 inch wide.
  9. Coat with Sugar: Roll each piece in granulated sugar or sprinkles until fully coated, then arrange on a serving dish.
  10. Form Pinwheels or Roll-Ups: If making pinwheels or roll-ups, use the strips cut instead of cubes. Roll each strip from one end to the other and secure with a toothpick or lollipop stick. Sprinkle with sugar and enjoy!

Notes

  • Using a sharp knife sprayed with oil helps prevent the sticky candy from clinging and tearing when slicing.
  • Choose your Jello flavor based on your preference or to coordinate with party themes.
  • Ensure the marshmallows are mini size for better melting and smoother texture.
  • You can add a second gelatin layer for more colorful and visually appealing treats.
  • The candy requires chilling time but no baking, making it an easy no-cook dessert option.
