Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1½ cups brown rice
  • -2 lbs. stew beef
  • 1 sweet potato, cubed
  • 2 carrots, chopped large
  • 5 cups water (additional ½ cup if needed)
  • 1 cup peas

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients Except Peas: In a large pot, combine the brown rice, stew beef, cubed sweet potato, chopped carrots, and 5 cups of water. Make sure everything is evenly distributed in the pot.
  2. Boil and Simmer: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low to simmer. Cover the pot partially and cook for about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice and meat from sticking to the bottom. If sticking occurs and the rice is still undercooked, add additional water ½ cup at a time.
  3. Add Peas: About 15 minutes before the cooking time is complete, add the 1 cup of peas to the pot. Continue to simmer until the peas, rice, and meat are fully cooked.
  4. Cool and Serve: Once everything is cooked thoroughly, remove the pot from heat and allow the food to cool completely. Serve at room temperature for your dog’s safety and enjoyment.
