Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup light brown sugar, packed

½ cup plain Greek yogurt

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Mix in the Greek yogurt and vanilla extract, and continue mixing until well combined.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and beat until just combined. The dough will be sticky, which is normal.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Drop the cookie dough by the tablespoon onto the prepared baking sheets, making sure to space them at least 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The center may still look slightly soft, but it will firm up as the cookies cool.
  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Add nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  • Use milk or dark chocolate chips for a different flavor profile.
  • Adding a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder can enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • If using regular yogurt, the cookies will still be soft, but Greek yogurt yields a thicker, richer texture.
