Ingredients

Crust

  • 8 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (1 can, use the full sheet crescent dough if available)

Spread

  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened, reduced-fat or full fat)
  • ½ cup sour cream (light or full fat)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives (chopped)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Toppings

  • 2 cups chopped assorted veggies (broccoli, bell peppers, carrots, green onion, cucumber)
  • Additional fresh chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the crust evenly.
  2. Prepare the Spread: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, chopped fresh dill, and chopped fresh chives. Mix thoroughly until smooth and uniform. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to chill and allow flavors to meld.
  3. Roll Out Crescents: Remove crescent rolls from the can and carefully unroll onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. If not using full sheet dough, pinch seams together to form a single cohesive sheet to serve as your pizza crust.
  4. Bake Crust: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the crescent dough for 6 to 7 minutes until lightly golden and set. Remove from oven and let it cool completely to avoid melting the spread when applied.
  5. Spread Mixture: Once the crust has cooled, evenly spread the chilled cream cheese and sour cream mixture over the entire surface.
  6. Add Vegetables: Top the spread with the chopped assorted fresh veggies evenly. Add extra fresh chives on top if desired for garnish and extra flavor.
  7. Cut and Serve: Use a pizza cutter or sharp large knife to cut the veggie pizza into appetizer-sized pieces. Serve immediately for optimal freshness and crispness.

Notes

  • Use full sheet crescent dough if available to avoid sealing seams.
  • Make sure the crust is completely cooled before adding the spread to prevent it from becoming runny.
  • Feel free to vary the vegetables based on seasonal availability or preference.
  • This appetizer is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 1 day.
  • For a tangier spread, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to the cream cheese mixture.
