Ingredients

Crescent Ring

  • 1 8 oz tube crescent rolls
  • 4 oz chive and onion cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 3 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary or thyme, divided
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese (or Swiss or Monterey Jack), divided
  • 1 lb thinly sliced turkey (leftover or deli turkey)
  • 1 14 oz can whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp granulated garlic or garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt, adjust to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Arrange Crescent Rolls: Separate the crescent rolls and arrange them on the parchment paper in a circle, with the widest portions on the inside, overlapping the edges to form about a 4-5 inch circle in the center. This will serve as the base of your ring.
  3. Spread Cream Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together the softened chive and onion cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and 1 teaspoon of the chopped rosemary (or thyme). Spread this mixture evenly on the widest portion of the crescent dough inside the ring. Then sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded Gruyere cheese over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Add Turkey and Cranberry Sauce: Layer the thinly sliced turkey evenly over the cheese, allowing the slices to overlap slightly. Spread half of the whole berry cranberry sauce over the turkey. Reserve the other half of the cranberry sauce for serving. Then top this layer with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  5. Form the Ring: Fold the narrow ends of the crescent dough over the filling and tuck them into place on the inside edge of the ring, securing the filling inside the crescent dough.
  6. Add Topping Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, poppy seeds, granulated garlic (or garlic powder), and salt. Brush this mixture generously over the top and sides of the crescent dough, coating the turkey and cheese ring thoroughly for extra flavor and a golden finish.
  7. Bake: Bake the crescent ring in the preheated oven for 22 to 24 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and let it rest on the pan for 5 minutes to set before slicing.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the reserved 1 1/2 teaspoons of chopped rosemary over the top of the crescent ring. Slice into wedges and serve warm alongside the remaining cranberry sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Use leftover turkey or deli turkey slices for convenience and great flavor.
  • Gruyere cheese adds a nutty taste, but Swiss or Monterey Jack are good alternatives.
  • You can substitute fresh rosemary with thyme if preferred.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easy spreading.
  • Adjust salt according to taste, especially if using deli turkey which might already be salted.
  • This ring can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving for easy entertaining.
