Ingredients

1 loaf crusty bread (about 12 oz), sliced in half horizontally

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

½ teaspoon flaky sea salt (or fine salt)

¼ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Optional garnish: crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place bread halves cut side up on the sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, salt, and parmesan (if using) until smooth.
  4. Spread mixture evenly over bread halves.
  5. Bake 16–18 minutes, until edges are golden and crisp. Bake a few minutes longer for extra crunch.
  6. Let cool slightly, then slice with a serrated knife. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use ciabatta, baguette, or Italian bread for best results.
  • Swap parsley for Italian seasoning or basil for a flavor variation.
  • For cheesy garlic bread, top with mozzarella before baking.
  • To make ahead, freeze assembled bread and bake straight from frozen.
