Ingredients

Sushi Mixture

  • 1 lb imitation crab, shredded
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup Kewpie mayo (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 tbsp sriracha (plus extra for topping)

Rice

  • 4 cups sushi rice, cooked
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

Toppings & Garnish

  • 3 tbsp furikake seasoning
  • Green onions, chopped for garnish
  • Nori sheets for serving

Instructions

  1. Gather Ingredients: Collect all necessary ingredients including imitation crab, cream cheese, Kewpie mayo, sriracha, cooked sushi rice, rice vinegar, furikake seasoning, green onions, and nori sheets.
  2. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for baking the sushi bake.
  3. Prepare Crab Mixture: Shred the imitation crab into a bowl. Add the softened cream cheese, Kewpie mayo, and sriracha to the bowl. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined and set aside.
  4. Season Rice: Toss the cooked sushi rice with rice vinegar evenly to add flavor, then transfer the rice into a baking dish and press it down firmly to create an even layer on the bottom.
  5. Layer Furikake and Crab: Sprinkle half of the furikake seasoning evenly over the rice layer. Next, spread the crab mixture on top, then sprinkle the remaining furikake seasoning over the crab layer.
  6. Add Sauce Drizzle: Drizzle additional Kewpie mayo and sriracha over the top of the layered ingredients for extra creaminess and spiciness.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes until the top is slightly golden and the mixture is heated through.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve alongside nori sheets for scooping. Enjoy your delicious sushi bake!

Notes

  • Use Kewpie mayo for authentic flavor; regular mayo can be substituted but flavor will vary.
  • Sushi rice should be properly cooked and cooled to room temperature before mixing with vinegar.
  • Adjust sriracha quantity to your spice preference.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
  • For extra texture, toast the nori sheets slightly before serving.
