Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 medium ripe banana (previously peeled and frozen, approximately 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber (organic preferred, skin on)
  • 3/4 – 1 cup light coconut milk (or other non-dairy milk; less for thicker smoothie, more for thinner smoothie)
  • 1 cup spinach or chopped kale (organic preferred, frozen recommended)
  • 1 tsp spirulina powder
  • 1 Tbsp hemp seed (optional)

Toppings

  • 1/4 cup frozen or fresh blueberries (organic preferred)
  • 1/4 cup granola (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: Add the frozen banana, sliced cucumber, light coconut milk, spinach or kale, spirulina powder, and hemp seed (if using) to a blender. Blend until the mixture is creamy and smooth, pausing to scrape down the sides or using a smoothie wand to ensure even blending.
  2. Adjust Consistency and Flavor: If the smoothie is too thick, thin it out by adding water or more coconut milk. If it is too thin, thicken it with ice cubes or additional frozen banana. Taste and adjust flavor by adding more banana for sweetness, cucumber for freshness, or extra greens and spirulina to enhance the green color.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the smoothie into a serving glass. Top with blueberries, granola, and additional hemp seeds as preferred. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
  4. Storage: Leftover smoothie can be covered and refrigerated for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 1 week. Thaw frozen portions before consuming.

Notes

  • For best results and vibrant color, use organic and frozen greens such as spinach or kale.
  • Adjust spirulina powder quantity based on brand strength and personal taste preferences; start with 1 tsp and increase carefully as it has a strong flavor.
  • If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add more banana or a natural sweetener of your choice.
  • This smoothie is best consumed fresh but can be stored chilled or frozen as noted.
  • Using frozen banana adds natural sweetness and creamy texture without needing extra ice.
  • Hemp seeds add a boost of protein and healthy fats but can be omitted if desired.
