Ingredients

Bread and Butter

  • 1 full size baguette, sliced into ¼ inch slices
  • 3 Tbsp butter, melted

Toppings

  • 2 rounds (6 oz each) President Brie cheese or 1 wheel sliced into ¼ inch slices
  • 1 cup strawberry preserves (jam or jelly)
  • Fresh rosemary, finely chopped (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare the baguette slices: Preheat your oven to BROIL with the rack positioned in the upper middle. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer. Using a brush or spoon, spread melted butter evenly over one side of each slice.
  2. Broil the crostini: Place the baking sheet in the oven and broil the slices on HIGH for 1–2 minutes until the buttered side is lightly browned and toasted. Watch closely to prevent burning. Remove the baking sheet from the oven once toasted.
  3. Add the toppings while warm: Immediately spread a spoonful of strawberry preserves onto each hot crostini slice. Then, place a slice of Brie on top. The warmth of the bread will slightly melt the cheese, making it soft and creamy.
  4. Garnish and serve: Arrange all crostini on a serving platter and sprinkle with finely chopped fresh rosemary. Serve immediately to enjoy the combination of warm, sweet, and herbaceous flavors.

Notes

  • Use good quality Brie for the best creamy texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer, substitute strawberry preserves with any other berry jam or fig jam.
  • Keep a close eye while broiling as the bread can burn quickly.
  • For a more elegant presentation, garnish with a small rosemary sprig instead of chopped rosemary.
  • This appetizer is best served warm for optimal melty Brie.
