Ingredients

Beef and Sauce

  • 500 g Diced beef
  • 4 cloves Garlic (Crushed)
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger (Grated)
  • 8 tbsp Soy sauce (Reduced salt)
  • 5 tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 6 tbsp Runny honey
  • 6 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 150 ml Boiling water

Noodles and Vegetables

  • 250 g Dried egg noodles (Uncooked)
  • 300 ml Boiling water
  • 1 Green pepper (Sliced)
  • 160 g Sugar snap peas (Halved)

Garnish

  • Spring onions (Chopped)
  • 1-2 tbsp Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce and beef: Combine the diced beef, crushed garlic, grated ginger, reduced-salt soy sauce, oyster sauce, runny honey, tomato ketchup, and 150 ml of boiling water in the slow cooker. Stir well to mix all the ingredients evenly.
  2. Slow cook the beef: Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 3.5 hours or on LOW for 5.5 hours until the beef is tender and infused with the flavors of the sauce.
  3. Add noodles and vegetables: Once the beef is tender, add the remaining 300 ml of boiling water, dried egg noodles, sliced green pepper, and halved sugar snap peas to the slow cooker. Stir everything together thoroughly to distribute the ingredients evenly.
  4. Cook until noodles are done: Replace the lid and continue cooking for about 30 minutes until the noodles are just cooked through. Stir the mixture occasionally during this time to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
  5. Serve and garnish: Serve the honey garlic beef noodles hot, garnished with chopped spring onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use reduced-salt soy sauce to keep the sodium content lower without compromising on flavor.
  • Stirring occasionally during the noodle cooking step ensures noodles don’t stick together or to the slow cooker.
  • You can substitute sugar snap peas with snow peas or green beans if preferred.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, stir in a slurry of cornstarch and water towards the end and cook for a few extra minutes.
  • This recipe works well for meal prep and tastes even better the next day as flavors deepen.
