Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound oyster mushrooms (230 grams)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Oil spray (such as olive oil or cooking spray)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven or Air Fryer: If using the oven, preheat to 450°F (230°C). If using the air fryer, preheat it to 360°F (180°C) for 8 minutes.
  2. Prepare Mushrooms: Separate the bunches into individual mushrooms. Gently rinse and pat dry with paper towels. Trim off any dirty or tough stem ends. If mushrooms are large, cut or tear them in half for bite-sized pieces.
  3. Prepare Cooking Surface: For oven method, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray lightly with oil. For air fryer, spray a light coat of oil onto the basket grate.
  4. Season Mushrooms: Arrange mushrooms in a single layer on the prepared surface. Spray lightly with oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Roast in Oven: Bake mushrooms in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes until the bottom is blistered and golden brown. Remove from oven, flip the mushrooms, and bake another 8-10 minutes until the other side is golden.
  6. Air Fry Mushrooms: Place mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray lightly again with oil. Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through until nicely browned.
  7. Serve: Remove cooked mushrooms and serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the mushrooms during cooking; this allows them to crisp properly.
  • Use a light oil spray to prevent mushrooms from becoming greasy while still promoting browning.
  • Adjust seasoning according to your preference; you can also add garlic powder or herbs for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated but are best eaten fresh.
