Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 6 cups water
  • 1/4 cup ginger, peeled and sliced
  • 3 to 6 bags green tea (depending on desired strength)

Herbs and Sweetener

  • 1/2 cup mint leaves, tightly packed, plus extra for serving
  • 1/3 cup honey

Fruit

  • 1 lemon, divided

Instructions

  1. Boil Ginger Infused Water: In a medium-sized pot, combine 6 cups of water with 1/4 cup peeled and sliced ginger. Bring the mixture to a boil to extract the sharp, warming flavors of the ginger.
  2. Steep Tea and Mint: Once boiling, remove the pot from heat. Add 3 to 6 green tea bags and 1/2 cup tightly packed mint leaves to the hot water. Cover the pot and allow it to steep for about 15 minutes to infuse the tea with both the tea’s flavor and the refreshing mint aroma.
  3. Strain and Sweeten: Strain the brewed tea to remove tea bags and mint leaves. Stir in 1/3 cup honey and the juice of half a lemon, balancing sweetness with citrus brightness. Transfer the tea to a pitcher and let it cool to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator to chill.
  4. Prepare to Serve: Slice the remaining half of the lemon into thin slices. When ready to serve, place 1 to 2 lemon slices and a few fresh mint leaves into each glass along with ice cubes.
  5. Serve Chilled: Pour the cooled green tea over the prepared glasses with lemon, mint, and ice cubes, giving a refreshing and aromatic iced tea experience.

Notes

  • If your green tea bags have paper tags, remove them before steeping to prevent the tags from detaching into the water.
  • Adjust the number of tea bags from 3 to 6 depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
  • You can substitute honey with a sweetener of your choice if desired.
  • For a stronger ginger flavor, allow ginger slices to steep longer or use fresh ginger juice.
