Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to smooth it out.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine chopped spinach, Parmesan, mozzarella, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spread the cheese and spinach mixture evenly over one half of the puff pastry.
  5. Fold the other half of the puff pastry over the filling, pressing down gently to seal the edges. Cut into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  6. Twist each strip several times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the twists are golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Add chili flakes or cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
  • For more flavor, incorporate fresh or dried herbs like basil, oregano, or thyme.
  • Swap mozzarella for provolone or add sharp cheddar for a bolder taste.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan puff pastry, nutritional yeast, and dairy-free cheese.
