Ingredients

2 ripe but firm bananas

1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and slice them thinly into rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Toss the banana slices gently in the melted coconut oil to coat.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the banana slices and toss again to distribute the coating.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
  6. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Air fry for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chips are golden and crispy.
  7. Remove the chips and let them cool completely on a wire rack to crisp up further before serving.
  8. Enjoy the banana chips as a snack, topping for yogurt, or light dessert.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy kick.
  • For an indulgent treat, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the chips or sprinkle with shredded coconut after air frying.
  • For a savory version, skip the sugar and cinnamon, and season with smoked paprika or garlic powder.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • To re-crisp, place the banana chips back in the air fryer for a couple of minutes.
