Ingredients

For the Bread:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

½ cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Topping:

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon to create the cinnamon-sugar swirl mixture.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Then, pour in the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Use a knife to gently swirl the batter to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. If necessary, bake for a few more minutes until done.
  8. Once baked, let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. While the bread cools, brush the top with melted butter. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and sprinkle evenly over the bread.
  10. Slice and serve once the topping has set. Enjoy!
