Ingredients

Cinnamon Sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Dough and Cream Cheese Filling

  • Two 8-oz packages refrigerated crescent roll dough or sheets
  • 16 oz full fat cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon with ½ cup granulated sugar. Mix well and set aside for later use.
  2. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and place a rack in the middle position. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan thoroughly then sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons of the prepared cinnamon sugar evenly across the bottom.
  3. Make Bottom Crust: Open one tube of refrigerated crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it. Press all the seams together to form one solid rectangular sheet. Lay this dough evenly into the prepared pan, pressing down so it covers the entire bottom surface.
  4. Prepare Cream Cheese Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ¾ cup granulated sugar, one large egg, and 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract. Beat the mixture thoroughly until it becomes smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  5. Assemble Cream Cheese Layer: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the crescent dough crust in the pan, then spread it into an even layer using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
  6. Add Top Layer of Dough: Open the second tube of crescent roll dough, unroll it, and press seams together into a solid rectangular sheet as before. Place this dough gently over the cream cheese layer, ensuring it fully covers the filling from edge to edge.
  7. Apply Butter and Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Drizzle the melted and slightly cooled butter evenly over the top dough layer. Using the back of a spoon or a pastry brush, spread the butter uniformly. Then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture generously over the buttery top.
  8. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 26 to 30 minutes. Bake until the crescent dough has puffed up nicely and turned a golden brown color.
  9. Cool and Chill: Remove from oven and transfer the pan to a wire rack. Allow the bars to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate them until well chilled.
  10. Serve: After chilling, cut the bars into 16 servings and enjoy the delicious combination of crisp cinnamon dough and creamy cheesecake filling.

Notes

  • You can sprinkle additional cinnamon sugar on top before serving for extra sweetness and decoration.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese for the best creamy texture and flavor.
  • Make sure the melted butter is cooled slightly so it doesn’t soak too much into the dough.
  • These bars can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Optional toppings like a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce can enhance the flavor.
