Ingredients

Tea

  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag (or 1 teaspoon loose leaf)
  • 1 cup water

Milk and Flavorings

  • 1/2 cup milk (any type)
  • 1-2 teaspoons vanilla syrup
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Cherries

  • 4-5 fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 2 tablespoons water (for simmering cherries)

Optional

  • Ice (optional for iced version)
  • Fresh cherry or cinnamon stick for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cherries: Place pitted and halved cherries in a small saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes over medium heat until the cherries are soft and juicy. Gently mash them to release their natural juices.
  2. Brew Tea: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Steep the Earl Grey tea bag or loose leaf tea for 3-5 minutes to achieve a strong, aromatic brew. Remove the tea bag or strain the leaves.
  3. Heat Milk: Add the milk and optional cinnamon stick to the saucepan with the simmered cherries. Warm the mixture gently while stirring occasionally to blend the flavors without boiling.
  4. Combine: Stir in the vanilla syrup into the warmed milk and cherry mixture. Pour the brewed tea into a mug, then strain the milk-cherry mixture into the mug, pressing the cherries to extract maximum juice and flavor. Stir well to combine all elements.
  5. Serve: Enjoy the tea hot immediately, or allow it to cool, then pour over ice for a refreshing iced version. Optionally, garnish with a fresh cherry or a cinnamon stick for extra aroma and visual appeal.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free option, substitute milk with almond, soy, oat, or coconut milk.
  • The vanilla syrup sweetness can be adjusted to taste or replaced with honey or maple syrup.
  • If you prefer a stronger cherry flavor, simmer the cherries a bit longer or add more cherries.
  • The cinnamon stick is optional but adds a nice warming note that complements the Earl Grey and vanilla flavors.
  • Use fresh, ripe cherries for the best flavor; frozen cherries can be used in a pinch but may alter texture.
  • This tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 day; stir well before reheating or serving iced.
