Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 1 18 oz box brownie mix
  • Egg, oil, and water (as listed on box of brownie mix)

Cheesecake Swirl

  • 12 oz cream cheese or Neufchatel cream cheese (1 1/2 8 oz packages)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven according to the directions provided on the brownie mix package to ensure proper baking temperature.
  2. Prepare Brownie Batter: Mix the brownie mix with the egg, oil, and water as instructed on the package. Set the batter aside once ready.
  3. Make Cheesecake Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, beat the cream cheese for a couple of minutes until smooth and creamy to eliminate lumps.
  4. Add Ingredients to Cheesecake Mix: Incorporate the egg, flour, sugar, and vanilla extract into the cream cheese. Stir until the mixture is fully combined and smooth.
  5. Layer Brownie Batter: Pour all but about 1/2 cup of the prepared brownie batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Add Cheesecake Layer: Spoon the cheesecake mixture evenly over the brownie batter layer in the pan.
  7. Top with Remaining Brownie Batter: Spoon the reserved 1/2 cup of brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer.
  8. Create Swirl Effect: Using a knife, gently swirl the cream cheese and brownie batter together to form a marbled pattern without fully blending the layers.
  9. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool and Serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan before cutting into 18 servings and serving.

Notes

  • Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting to ensure clean slices and prevent crumbling.
  • Use Neufchatel cream cheese as a lower-fat alternative if preferred.
  • You can adjust the amount of cream cheese swirl depending on how pronounced you want the cheesecake flavor.
  • Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • For an extra touch, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
