Ingredients

For the Yogurt Base

  • 1½ cups (370g) plain Greek yogurt (2% or full fat for creaminess)
  • 1 tbsp (15g) honey or maple syrup (or erythritol for keto)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

For the Blueberry Swirl

  • ¾ cup (100g) fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp lemon juice (brightens flavor)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 tsp chia seeds (optional, adds texture + fiber)

Instructions

  1. Make the Blueberry Compote (Swirl): In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, lemon juice, and honey if using. Cook gently for 5–6 minutes, stirring frequently until berries soften and burst. Mash slightly with a spoon to achieve a jammy texture. When thickened to coat the back of a spoon, turn off heat and stir in chia seeds. Let the compote cool completely to prevent melting the yogurt during assembly.
  2. Mix the Yogurt Base: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, vanilla extract, and honey. Stir thoroughly until smooth and creamy. Taste and add more sweetener if desired for a sweeter dessert flavor.
  3. Assemble the Bites: Using a silicone mini muffin tray or ice cube tray, spoon about 1 tablespoon of yogurt mixture into each cavity, filling approximately ¾ full. Add ½ teaspoon of cooled blueberry compote on top of the yogurt in each mold. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the compote into the yogurt to create a marbled effect without overmixing.
  4. Freeze Until Solid: Place the tray flat in the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours or until the bites are completely firm.
  5. Unmold & Enjoy: Once frozen, gently pop the yogurt bites out of the mold. If using a hard mold, let sit for 2–3 minutes at room temperature to loosen. Store bites in an airtight container in the freezer. Before eating, allow them to thaw at room temperature for 2–4 minutes for optimal texture.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for creamier texture but 2% also works well.
  • Honey can be substituted with maple syrup or a keto-friendly sweetener like erythritol.
  • Chia seeds added to the compote help create a gel-like texture but are optional.
  • Make sure the blueberry compote is completely cooled before combining to avoid melting the yogurt base.
  • Store bites in an airtight container and consume within 1-2 weeks for best freshness.
  • Experiment with different berry compotes or add-ins like coconut flakes or nuts for variety.
