Ingredients

Syrup Ingredients

  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 tbsp dried lavender

Lemonade Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
  • 6 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup additional blueberries (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Blueberry Lavender Syrup: Combine blueberries, sugar, water, and dried lavender in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir together and let the blueberries cook down for about 8-10 minutes. Mash the blueberries gently and continue to cook for another 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Strain the Syrup: Use a fine mesh sieve to strain the syrup into a heat-safe bowl, pressing the blueberry mixture to extract as much juice as possible.
  3. Reduce the Syrup: Pour the strained syrup back into the saucepan and cook for an additional 10 minutes over medium heat to slightly thicken. Remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
  4. Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled blueberry lavender syrup with the fresh lemon juice and filtered water. Stir well to combine all flavors.
  5. Garnish and Chill: Add the additional blueberries and fresh mint to the pitcher for garnish. Place the lemonade in the refrigerator until ready to serve, allowing the flavors to meld and the drink to chill.

Notes

  • For a sparkling version, replace filtered water with sparkling water before serving.
  • If you prefer a less sweet lemonade, adjust the sugar quantity in the syrup to taste.
  • Ensure to crush the blueberries well when cooking to release maximum flavor and color.
  • Straining well will give a smoother lemonade without pulp.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best bright, tangy flavor.
