Ingredients

For the Dough:

1 cup warm milk

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (one packet)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup melted butter

1 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

1 cup fresh blueberries

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons cinnamon

2 tablespoons melted butter

For the Frosting:

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, until frothy.
  2. To the yeast mixture, add the remaining sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough out into a rectangle, brush it with melted butter, and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Scatter the blueberries on top.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge, pinch the seam to seal, and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  6. Cover the rolls and let them rise for about 30 minutes, until they are puffed and touching each other.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  8. While the rolls are baking, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
  9. Once the rolls are done, let them cool for a few minutes before spreading the frosting on top. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a citrusy twist, add the zest of one lemon to the dough or filling.
  • For a richer frosting, replace half of the cream cheese with mascarpone cheese.
  • If you prefer, swap the blueberries for other berries, such as raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries.
  • Frozen blueberries can be used, but make sure to thaw and dry them to avoid excess moisture in the rolls.
  • If making the dough ahead of time, refrigerate after the first rise and bring it to room temperature before proceeding with the second rise.
