Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 200 g short pasta (such as Farfalle)
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 20 g Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
  • Chilli flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil the pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta just over al dente according to the packet instructions.
  2. Drain and season: Drain the pasta and transfer it into a bowl. Add extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, and chili flakes if using. Toss to combine thoroughly.
  3. Add parmesan cheese: Grate Parmigiano Reggiano cheese over the pasta and mix well to evenly coat all the pieces.
  4. Air Frying Method: Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Spread the pasta in the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Oven Baking Method: Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Spread the pasta evenly, ensuring pieces are not overlapping. Bake at 200°C (400°F) for 17-20 minutes until golden and crunchy.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the pasta chips warm or at room temperature with your favorite dipping sauce such as napoletana, pesto, or hummus.

Notes

  • Choose short pasta shapes like farfalle, penne, or rigatoni for best results.
  • Shaking the basket halfway when air frying ensures even cooking and crispiness.
  • Monitor the pasta closely towards the end of baking as ovens vary in heat intensity to prevent burning.
  • Serve immediately for optimal crunch or store in an airtight container once cooled.
  • Chilli flakes add a spicy kick but can be omitted for a milder snack.
